The Dundee Remodel

The studio was approached by a couple in their early sixties. Sophisticated, deeply read, and quietly ambitious about their next chapter. They had lived in Omaha's Dundee neighborhood for more than two decades and had no interest in leaving. What they wanted was a home that reflected who they had become — a place that could hold their love of history, their fluency in the decorative arts, and their instinct to gather people with ease.

At Studio Eckström, the process began as it always does. Not with materials, but with conversation. We spoke about the books they return to, the places that shaped them, the objects that had followed them across time. From those conversations, a palette took form. From that palette, the architecture of the interior emerged.

The result is a home that does not announce itself. It settles. It resonates. Every object is placed with the discipline of an archivist. Each wall color carries reference and memory. The bedrooms are not variations on a theme, but distinct environments, each reflecting a different dimension of the owners' lives, past and future.
